In Memoriam: Lovell Singletary

The beloved Overtown “Shoeman” died as we were attempting to help him restart his business. Mr. Singletary was a resident of 1034 NW 3rd Avenue and had a shoe repair shop at the same location. When he died suddenly, Urban Philanthropies worked closely with his family for his final arrangements and organized a community vigil in his honor. We provided music, food, and a platform for the community to come together to honor a true pioneer.
